Madea witness protection how long is the movie

This is a straight up over the top comedy, with zero drama like all of his other movies. While that's kind of a breathe of fresh air, the comedy falls flat a lot.

The cast is pretty weak. Eugene Levy is ok, but he is just playing himself, and he's married to Denise Richards. Yeh, it don't make sense to me either. There's a lot of plot holes, and the movie only really works when Madea is on screen. Even though too much of her or him , gets to be annoying after a while. This is probably my least favorite of the Madea movies, and hopefully if they make more they get better.

Watch if your a fan, but skip otherwise. Everett J Super Reviewer. Nov 08, Not as enjoyable as some of his other films.

Bruce B Super Reviewer. Nov 06, Funny premise. I think Tyler Perry is quite subversive and for that I love him--sending up ponzi scheme guys, sending up hypocrisy in all shades of black and white. I don't think he's what my friends would call politically correct, so he may have to remain my guilty little pleasure. Bathsheba M Super Reviewer. Oct 30, I'm not going to deny that Tyler Perry is a talented performer.

At least as far as as Madea and Uncle Joe goes. I don't think I can deny that, no matter how much I truly disliked his movies. The problem is everything that he gives his "characters" to perform. He doesn't write good scripts and, it's a damn miracle quite frankly, that he didn't include a melodramatic story in this movie as well to go along with the comedy. Though the Jail one was considerably worse. So it's surprising, to say the least, to see Tyler get rid of all the drama altogether and stick with what he does "best" and that's the comedy.

With that said, and I know this isn't saying much, but this is the best of the 3 Madea films I've seen. Again, that's not saying much since the movie still isn't any good.

The comedy is what Tyler Perry does best but he's also not particularly good at it either, at least as far as writing it. The problem is that he's the main creative force in his films. Perhaps if he had someone to work with, someone to bounce ideas off then maybe the films wouldn't be as, shall we say, lacking in real genuine laughs. Once you've seen every Madea movie you've seen them all, and I suppose it's what like. Sort of like The Pink Panther, in a strange and odd way.

I think the main problem, other than the script itself which is full of cliches and lame-ass jokes, is the fact that this feels like a TV movie for a cancelled sitcom. That is really what it feels like. I had been having a hard time trying to find the exact description for these films for a while, and this is exactly what they feel like. This would be more than fine if it were a TV film, but the fact that Tyler Perry's art is, somehow, supposed to be worthy of release in a movie theater is beyond me.

It doesn't bother me as much but, again, this should, by all intents and purposes, be a TV film. But hey, I don't get to decide that, plus there's money to be made here obviously. Exploit that cash cow as much as you can. The movie is also far too long, 1 hour and 50 minutes is simply too long for a script that is already stretched thin as it is.

There are long stretches of time when you're not even sure what's going on and what the point of it is. There's this subplot with Barbara and Uncle Joe where they had an affair which may have spawned George Eugene Levy and I suppose it was meant to add laughs, but it simply felt like filler to me. Like they just had to give them something to do, but it served no other purpose otherwise.

It wasn't that funny, but really that's film's main problem. I mean it does have its moments, it's not all bad and, perhaps, I'm being generous with the rating. I didn't hate this film as much as Madea goes to Jail, but it's still no good.

Madea cusses and screams and sometimes resorts to corporal punishment i. She thinks children should respect their elders, adults should be responsible and capable no whining , and everyone should be mindful of their contribution to this world.

The film is filled with people she "has" to teach these lessons to, from a very rude teen to a man without a backbone to a young man who resorts, briefly, to crime to help his church. A man uses a gun to try to hold up a retiree, but the plan goes awry. A woman drives a car like a maniac to scare off a passenger. A family is sent a dead rat as a fear-raising tactic. Madea sometimes slaps people. An old man ogles a young woman; a man and a woman reminisce over a one-night-stand decades earlier, and Madea talks about her days as a prostitute and stripper.

Many double entendres and crude remarks using language like "bang" and "screwed" , and a woman declares that she wants sex. Some mentions of drugs and cigarettes; Madea wants a drink or several while flying. A bottle of champagne is seen. Parents need to know that Madea's Witness Protection -- part of Tyler Perry 's popular, long-running Madea franchise -- serves up more of what audiences have come to expect from the series: a righteous Madea putting people in their place.

This time it's a Bernie Madoff-like character only he doesn't know anything about the crime and was just set up and his family, who have to hide in Madea's Atlanta house for safety. He can either be killed by the Mob or make restitution with the help of a well-meaning district attorney Tyler Perry.

But first, George needs a place to hide while he works with the government to catch the bad guys. And what better place to disappear than at the mighty Madea's Perry house, where the Needleman family's big-city ways won't make the cut?

No disrespect to the usually formidable Madea, but she seems to be losing her touch. She has less fire in her belly; her diatribes aren't as disarming or funny. Though fans will be glad for a few of them, especially an initial one she unleashes on a poor soul who tries to rob her in her car.

A teenage girl who's quite nasty to her parents, especially her step-mother, is upbraided in a fairly tame and passive-aggressive, roundabout way, when a full-on righteous tongue-lashing would have been more audience-pleasing.

Could it be that Madea has softened with age? Or is Tyler Perry tiring of his muse? We're not even getting into Madea's Witness Protection 's weak script or the wasted potential of the New York banker-in-relocated-down-South setup. The beauty of Madea is that she says what she thinks, so when she doesn't, we're left unsatisfied, wondering what's holding her back.

It also takes much too long to get a glimpse of the film's headliner as the Ponzi scheme storyline is explained. Levy is predictably hilarious, and watching his character and Madea reference a Whoopi Goldberg -in- Ghost moment is gold.

But not much else is. Families can talk about whether Madea is a role model in Madea's Witness Protection , if she indulges in some rude behavior primarily screaming and threats of bodily harm herself. Does it matter that what she's doing is played for laughs? Talk about Madea's message about the youth of today and their sense of entitlement.
