What I will say is there's a number of eyes-on-stalks setpieces during which my mouth literally hung open in dumbstruck awe not a great look, I grant you. Let me put in clearer terms: Journey is the most beautiful video game I've ever laid eyes on.
If you were one of the lucky ones to have a play around with last autumn's beta and thought that was a bit of a looker, prepare to reset your expectations once again. There's a sequence in the middle of the game, for example, lit by a setting sun, that will leave you speechless.
As a solitary adventurer, Journey is the loneliest game since Shadow of the Colossus, the player made to feel deliberately small and insignificant not just in the shadow of the mountain, but also within the world around you, stretching for miles and miles into the distance.
But the single-player experience is only half the story. Perhaps Journey's greatest asset is its unique take on co-op multiplayer — which flies in the face of years of gaming tradition. There are no lobbies, no online IDs, no voice chat, no way to choose when and where you join another player, and no way to communicate with them when you do other than through the actions of your character and a simple, voiceless call.
And the effect this has is remarkable. By making online contact entirely anonymous, it has the unexpected effect of making it unsettlingly raw and intimate. Stripped of all these familiar cues, which are in effect an impression contrived for the outside world, you are left to judge one another on your actions alone. I in particular loved Flower since it was so refreshing and fun, especially after the experience that was Journey.
A very recommended gameset. This is the work of art that you always thought you would buy but could not afford. The sounds are mesmerizing, the visuals captivating. With minimal story telling and user intuitive controls no manuals ahoy , this is one of the greatest success stories on PS3 platform.
Own this title, it will give you inner peace. This game is awesome.. So dreamy-styled and the game music is fantastic. Disc contains DLC games as well something like flower. It also have few PS3 themes. Only complaint about the game is that the game itself is so short. Hope they are onto Journey 2. A must buy for Newbie PS3 gamers. Recommended from my side. Vaibhav Chandra Certified Buyer , Delhi. I never played a game like Journey..
The Visuals are extremely beautiful.. The music is simply brilliant, undoubtedly one of the best I've seen so far.. It touched your heart and soul!! It's a studio focussed on making games that resonate emotionally, drawing on its staff's background in multimedia art. So far the studio has made Cloud, flOw and Flower: Cloud is a wonderfully relaxing flight through blue skies and drifting cumulus; flOw lets you be a micro-organism in the primordial ooze, munching others as you float; Flower is a gorgeous if rather heavy-handed meditation on the relationship between the urban and the natural in which you literally play a cloud of petals.
They are beautiful, whimsical creations, but they have always stopped short of profundity. These are all games that have tried to push the boundaries of what interactive entertainment can express, but Journey tries harder — and Journey succeeds.
Journey is profound, or at least it can be. The studio describes it as an interactive parable, the story of a lone traveller and their path through life told in the form of a voyage that starts in the vast expanses of a desert and ends … well, to tell you how it ends would spoil it. You think you know what Journey is going to be about after the first five minutes, but you don't.
I came to it expecting something charming, visually stunning and perhaps even mildly edifying. I left thinking that it may well be, in many ways, the best video game I have ever played.
